Everest Insurance, the primary insurance division of Everest Re Group, Ltd. is seeking a senior executive leader for its North American region based in its global headquarters in Warren, NJ or the metro area. As a key member of the North America leadership team reporting to the Chief Executive Officer of Everest Insurance -, you will play a vital role with Everest Insurance on our journey as a world-class underwriting organization.

As the leader of North America Insurance, you will be responsible for the profitability and growth of the commercial property/casualty Underwriting business which is over $4 billion in gross written premium under management. This role will strive to achieve segment goals and objectives to deliver upon key metrics including new business, rate, retention, and profit through effective navigation of market dynamics, development of strategy and execution, disciplined underwriting and strong broker and client relationships. This individual will employ a growth mindset to lead and develop a diverse, high-performing team, creating a culture of empowerment, inclusivity, and collaboration.

The successful candidate must operate across a wide range of insurance products and exposures including property, casualty, liability, credit and specialty lines of over 150 products and services. As such, the role requires strong core knowledge of core P&C products as well as North American insurance markets. Our diversified portfolio of customers and products requires the ability to pivot from portfolio underwriting to individual account underwriting and back.

Key Functions/Responsibilities of Position:

  • Lead the development, communication, and execution of the North America Insurance strategy and annual operating plans, in line with Everest Insurance - and Group strategic direction
  • Collaborate with Everest Insurance - leadership to develop and achieve intermediate and longer term strategic goals (growth, market selection, market share, competitive position, M&A and long term sustainability.)
  • Partners and collaborates with multiple stakeholders to ensure strategic alignment with Everest's Global Insurance business
  • Promote "OneEverest", identifying opportunities beyond the specifically assigned business unit responsibility, and collaborating across business units, regions, and functions to improve performance and enhance the growth of shareholder value
  • Maintain full P&L accountability, with responsibility for profitability and other relevant underwriting KPIs and risk tolerances across the International Insurance operations, including the development, presentation and execution of the annual business plan
  • Ensure robust and effective governance frameworks to manage and control all forms of business risk (underwriting, reinsurance, financial, operational and regulatory)
  • Works closely with team to ensure Everest Insurance products and services are highly sought after in the industry.
  • Develops, cultivates, and maintains strong partnerships with brokers, and serves as the face of U.S. market in the external marketplace.
  • Ensures collaboration with Distribution, Product Management, Operations, and other functions to optimize results
  • Responsible for identifying, recruiting, retaining, and developing top talent with strong succession plans

    • 15+ years of experience in P&C Insurance in North America
    • In-depth knowledge of core P&C Insurance products, including: property, casualty, liability, credit and specialty lines
    • Extensive experience managing and driving the P&L for an Insurance business
    • Proven ability to develop and manage Sales and Distribution channels, adjusting strategies and actions to meet the needs of a changing marketplace
    • Extensive experience engaging with brokers and customers
    • Ability to develop and execute a strategy across multiple lines and disciplines, assessing options for growth and operational efficiency
    • Proven track record of excellent leadership and team building skills to foster a high performance culture
    • Has a sound understanding of global markets and can work across multiple regions and segments to scale solutions
    • Strong analytical and leadership skills with proven experience leading diverse, high-performing teams
    • Demonstrated ability to organize, lead and get work done collaborating with others
    • Oversee the development and management of all aspects of underwriting strategy, aligning with the overall Everest Insurance strategic plan, and translating the strategy into clear underwriting guidelines and limits of authority
    • Ability to travel up to 50% of time, as needed
