We are searching for the best talent for an Associate Director, in
Oncology Discovery, Innovative Medicine, located in Spring House,
PA. Join our Oncology In Vivo team and drive the characterization
and development of small molecules, biologics, radioligands,
antibody-drug conjugates, and cell therapies for the treatment of
cancer. We execute in vivo pharmacology studies within Oncology
research programs to meet departmental drug development and
strategic objectives, to bring life-changing therapies to the
clinic! We characterize potential clinical therapeutics through the
evaluation of target inhibition, efficacy, mechanism of action,
pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamics (PK/PD), and biomarker
evaluations. In this role, you will lead other leaders and
individual contributors within a collaborative team, interacting
with discovery leaders and cross-functional project teams. You will
be accountable for effective performance management and meaningful
career development conversations. Your leadership responsibilities
include the design, execution and interpretation of in vivo studies
for the validation and characterization of targets or therapeutic
agents in the areas of oncology and tumor immunology. Additionally,
you will provide input to operational plans with measurable
contribution towards the achievement of short-term department
results. Key Responsibilities: Lead the Spring House, PA site team
of leaders, and/or individual contributors who collaborate across
functions and within teams. Guide team by conducting effective
performance and career development conversations. Lead with vision,
setting strategic goals and long-range planning objectives for
team. Shape team strategy, design of experiments, data
interpretation, and communication to teams and collaborators.
Communicate clearly and expertly, delivering impactful
presentations and reports to internal teams and external audiences.
Collaborate across functions and teams, acting as a scientific
resource and leader, identifying key insights from biological
experiments and research. Operational leadership of the team (e.g.,
workflow, efficiency improvement, adaptation, and compliance), as
well as ensuring achievement of team goals within established
timelines and budgets. Promote sound scientific method, ensuring
data quality, and accurate record creation and retention for self
and for team. Champion laboratory safety, health and well-being of
staff, and compliance with animal welfare standards.
Qualifications/ Requirements: Education: Bachelor’s degree (BS/ BA)
in the life sciences (molecular/ cellular biology, biochemistry,
pharmacology, tumor immunology) with at least 15 years
pharmaceutical or biotech industry/ lab/ academic experience OR a
Master’s degree (MS) with at least 12 years experience, or PhD with
5-8 years of relevant post-graduate experience. Experience and
Skills: Required: Expertise in drug development of Oncology
therapeutics. Experience in optimally leading individuals and/or
teams. Experience with oncology-relevant rodent models such as
xenografts and syngeneic models, orthotopic models, humanized
models, or genetically engineered tumor models. Expertise in study
design, data analysis, interpretation, and presentation of in vivo
pharmacology studies. Strong organizational skills including the
ability to handle several projects simultaneously; detail oriented
with excellent record keeping skills. Excellent communication
skills including effective interaction with people and teams both
internally and externally. Presentation of scientific data and
concepts to colleagues and teams. Proven record of adherence to
animal welfare and compliance regulations. Preferred: Experience in
writing technical drafts for patent filings, IND (US-FDA) or CTA
