Job Description NYU Langone Hospital—Suffolk is a 306-bed
medical center, providing care to residents of eastern Long Island.

a modern ambulatory surgical pavilion with specialized services

comprehensive and specialized care for patients with traumatic
injuries. The Stroke Center at NYU Langone Hospital—Suffolk is
designated by the New York State Department of Health as a Primary

Position Summary: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team
as a Advanced Practice (NP or PA) Manager & Office Practice APP -
Infusion Department - 4 days/week, with one Saturday/month
coverage. Provision, coordination, and assurance of comprehensive
health care using advanced practice nursing process and pertinent
standards of care, the diagnosis of illness and physical
conditions, and performance of diagnostic, therapeutic, corrective
and prescriptive measures as appropriate for patient within a
collaborative practice agreement with a specific physician on the
staff of NYU Langone Hospital - Suffolk. Supervises and directs a
designated group of Nurse Practitioners and/or Physician Assistants
for purposes of optimizing service line activities in the delivery
of health care to patients while promoting a positive work
environment. Serves as a liaison to nursing, care management,
hospital administration, and other hospital departments. Represents
the advanced practice nurses & physician assistants department to
accrediting bodies ensuring institutional compliance. Job
Responsibilities: - Performs all relevant clinical functions based
on current evidence. Performs complete health history, physical
examination and psychosocial assessment within the designated
practice. - Collaborates with division chief and office
administrators to ensure that systems supportive of clinical care
function smoothly. Facilitates self-governance of nurse
practitioner/physician assistant group in collaboration with
Director of Advanced Practice Nurses and Physician Assistants when
needed. - Participates in performance appraisals of nurse
practitioners and physician assistants on the assigned service.
Participates in evaluations of the fellows, residents and interns
as needed. - Develops and maintains policies, standards and
processes pertaining to all aspects of patient care. Sets
departmental goals in collaboration with division chief and other
key personnel.Participates in relevant hospital-wide committees.
Acts as a liaison between inpatient and outpatient areas to assure
continuity of care. - Facilitates the on-boarding and orientation
as well as ongoing professional development of nurse practitioners
and physician assistants. Coordinates clinical activities of nurse
practitioners and physician assistants to accomplish established
safety and quality measures. Provides leadership and develops
effective team building. - Collaborates with the Director of
Advanced Practice Nurses and Physician Assistants, and the division
chief of the clinical department in the recruitment, retention, and
human resource management of the nurse practitioners and physician
assistants assigned to respective service. Guides and monitors
performance and delivery of care on a daily basis, including time
scheduling, assignments, and coordination of services to patients.
- Assists and participates in the preparation, implementation, and
evaluation of research protocols when applicable. Monitors and
trends the cost effectiveness of the position, particularly as it
relates to the efficiency and performance indicators established
for the service. - Participates in Service Line Quality and
Performance Improvement meetings.Participates in Advance Practice
Nursing meetings and committees. - Participates in the development
and monitoring of patient outcomes per established practice
protocols for purposes of quality and performance improvement. Uses
evidence-based health care literature to advise and support
appropriate practice changes within the designated service. -
Evaluates advanced practice activities that contribute to
achievement of patient outcomes and add value to clinical care.
Utilizes practice-based evidence as mechanism to evaluate care and
the need for change in structure or processes to improve care. -
Serves as a preceptor to graduate students in Nurse Practitioner
Program and mentor to staff nurse. - Contributes to the development
of nursing knowledge in area of practice through writing, research,
and formal/informal presentations.Educates patient and family to
facilitate and promote healthy adjustment to new or changed
expected outcomes. - Participates in hospital, NY State and TJC
mandated education programs. Serves as a clinical expert and
resource for the education of peers and other health professionals.
- Promotes own professional growth and development in clinical and
managerial role. Maintains current expertise in area of practice. -
Participates in designated activities related to professional
nursing standards and regulations of relevant outside agencies.
Acts as a respectful member of the health care team. - Facilitates
the continuity of care across the continuum of services, e.g., home
care, discharge to other facilities, and appointments with MD, etc.
Facilitates timely and safe discharge of patients to the next level
of care. - Provides consultation about the patients medical issues
and plans of care to the nursing staff responsible for the patients
care. - Participates in the development and revision of
interdisciplinary and nursing standards, patient and family
education materials relevant to the area of practice and
expertise.Interacts with other departments to ensure the seamless
transitions of care through collaborative communication. - Works
collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team, to develop and
implement the therapeutic plan of care for a group of patients and
ensure communication with patient and family members. Works
collaboratively with nursing leadership to ensure timely
communications with nursing staff. - Supports the mission,
philosophy, standards, goals and objectives of the institution,
departments, and service line. Plans and organizes care to meet
individual patient needs and to ensure appropriate clinical
resource utilization per protocol, pathways, and other means. -
Practices an evidence-based approach to clinical care, using
guidelines established by leading nursing national and
international bodies. - Documents all assessments, findings,
progress and care prescribed in the hospital medical records
according to standards established. - Acts as a professional role
model to all levels of staff by incorporating expertise and related
experience into patient care.Considers needs and behaviors of
specific patient age and cultural groups in all patient care
activities. - Coordinates discharge planning with interdisciplinary
team, patient and family to assure timely and safe discharge.
Practices as a member of the allied health staff according to the
rules and regulations, and bylaws of the Medical Staff. Practices
within scope of practice and approved delineation of privileges. -
Prescribes medications to patients according to NYS law, including
controlled substances with DEA authorization. Prescribes medical
equipment, devices, physical and occupational therapy, and home
health services per practice protocol. Evaluates patient responses
to treatment and modifies per clinical standards and practice
protocols. - Orders laboratory, radiological and diagnostic studies
as indicated, differentiates between normal/abnormal findings and
follows protocols for abnormal findings, which may include
adjustment in plan of care or discussion with attendings, and house
staff. - Works collaboratively with the practice team, attending
physicians, house staff, consulting physician(s), and other
disciplines to identify, develop, implement, create and modify as
necessary an appropriate plan of care that considers potential
outcomes and goals of care, maximizes patient/family satisfaction,
and that enhances quality, access, and cost outcomes. Minimum
Qualifications: To qualify you must have a Current registration as
Professional Registered Nurse in NY State; Current registration as
Nurse Practitioner in NY State. Master's Degree in nursing. ANCC or
AANP certification as Nurse Practitioner; Membership in related
professional organizations. Credentialed as allied health
professional through the Credentialing Committee of the Medical
Board Experience. At least 5 years of clinical advanced practice
nursing is required. Basic Life Support Certification through the
American Heart Association. Demonstrated ability to interface
effectively with other disciplines to achieve goals of care,
improve patient outcomes, decrease length of stay and utilize
resources efficiently.Demonstrated ability to facilitate group
processes, and work cohesively and collaboratively as a member of
the interdisciplinary team. Demonstrated evidence of excellent
interpersonal and communications skills, creative problem-solving,
critical thinking and leadership skills.Demonstrated ability to
manage change and influence others to work effectively in a
