growth.Responsibilties:
- Plan, organize and direct the work of staff in the provision of
spiritual support to patients and families in keeping with their
desire and belief system. Responsible for development,
implementation, coordination and supervision of all activities of
the bereavement program.
- Serve as resource person to staff regarding difficult or
unusual problems. Review and discuss/resolve problem cases. Attend
(or send designee) and participate in weekly team meetings to
discuss cases. Meet with General Manager on a monthly basis to
discuss overall Chaplaincy/Bereavement programs.
- Teach new skills using accepted guidelines that are necessary
for the implementation of unit or departmental services. Provide
two spiritual/bereavement program in-services per year to Hospice
Team. Orient new pastoral care staff to program and familiarize new
team members to pastoral care department services and documentation
process utilizing appropriate system. 4. Complete random bi-weekly
audits on staff documentation. Monitor staff productivity on a
weekly basis. Plan, implement, design and supervise bereavement
programs and services. Oversee bereavement follow up by fellow
staff members. Follow Hospice policies and procedures for
bereavement program. 6. Provide three education sessions per
quarter to community groups and area clergy.
- Conduct or make funeral arrangements for funeral or memorial
services when requested. Conduct memorial services for staff and
families. 8. Work with staff, clergy and community groups to
enhance their sensitivity to the spiritual concerns of
patients/families experiencing terminal illness. Provide additional
resources to families and patients as needed. Implement one new
feature to the bereavement/pastoral care program per year. Complete
other duties and/or projects as assigned. Demonstrate job
flexibility.
- Collaborate with pastoral care staff to ensure their
understanding and ability to complete Hospice consents on an
ongoing basis. Adheres to HMHs Organizational and Managerial
competencies and standards of behavior. Lifts a minimum of 10 lbs.,
pushes and pulls a minimum of 10 lbs. and stands a minimum of 4
hours a day.Qualifications: Education, Knowledge, Skills and
Abilities Required:
- Bachelors Degree
- Graduate Degree or Doctoral in Pastoral Counseling,
Ordination
- Two (2) to Four (4) Years Management Experience
- Ordination from a Recognized Religious Body in Ministry-Related
Field
- Completion of Four (4) Units of Clinical Pastoral Education at
an ACPE Approved Site Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Preferred:
- Hospice Experience Licenses and Certifications Required:
- Certification by AAPC
- Pastoral Certification in Hospice and Palliative Care
