Job Purpose Under the Customer Energy Management group for New York, the Market Rate product owner team supports all customer segments and portfolios within New York, ranging from residential, multifamily, and small and large commercial customers. We live in the Customer Organization at National Grid and are responsible for representing the customer's perspective in the work we deliver. Our team works closely to align with and support the low- and moderate-income (LMI) portfolios, though we are accountable for the non-LMI segment. Our portfolios include energy efficiency, demand response, and heat electrification programs delivered across Upstate and Downstate New York. Product owners focus on efforts to optimize product offerings within the portfolios to achieve regulatory targets as part of the State Energy Plan, company Earnings Adjustment Mechanism ("EAM") targets, and New York's ambitions under the Reforming the Energy Vision ("REV") and Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act ("CLCPA"), as well as contribute solutions to support National Grid's system operations. The Senior Analyst will primarily focus on adding value to the company's energy efficiency and demand response portfolios across all customer segments in the New York jurisdictions. The successful candidate's experience with energy efficiency, demand response, weatherization, and heat pump programs will inform the work scope of this position.
Key Accountabilities Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to): Portfolio and product management:
Provide support to the Customer Energy Management team as product owner focused on following the product life cycle for programs, products, and offerings designed to achieve energy efficiency targets, demand management and climate change objectives throughout the company to advance National Grid's position as a leader in these fields. Regulatory support: Contribute to the development and implementation of regulatory policy and strategy regarding gas and electric efficiency programs in consultation with Legal, Regulatory Affairs and Corporate Affairs, and develops regulatory compliance filings and initiatives to support National Grid's proposals.
Report on performance and results: Optimize product and service development to support regulatory requirements, meet compliance obligations, as well as EAM achievement, such as energy savings, carbon reduction, and peak reduction, as well as contribute to the growth of the programs/products. Stakeholder management: Communicate with internal business partners and stakeholders to develop process for delivery of approved plans, support compliance and EAM/KPI reporting, evaluation, and policy objectives. Identify market research needs, as well as incorporate evaluation findings, to meet regulatory obligations and to support development and enhancement of products and services. Coordinate and collaborate with key external stakeholders (NY State Public Service Commission, DPS Staff, NYSERDA, NYPA, NY Joint Utilities, other energy efficiency program administrators) to increase business opportunities with new and existing customers.
Supervisory/Interpersonal- Experience Required

  • Excellent oral and written communications skills. Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree required
    • 5+ years of work experience in regulatory experience, including managing regulatory processes or contributing to regulatory filings at the local, state, or national level
    • Advanced degree/credits are preferred
    • Knowledge of the electric and gas industry, heat pump technology, energy management systems, electric demand response, and/or energy efficiency program planning, design, implementation and evaluation
    • Experience working within a specific customer segment or with heat pump technology is preferred
    • 5+ years of energy efficiency, equipment design, or energy industry related analytical and/or regulatory work
    • Knowledge of National Grid's business operations, company policies and practices
    • Knowledge of relevant industry practice and legislation
    • Proficient in relevant software e.g. Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
    • Experience and proficiency in relevant company related IT systems
    • Strong oral and written communications skills. More Information
