The Director of Network Engineering & Architecture will focus on the design, development, planning, and management of all global network services.

This role requires a highly skilled individual with subject matter expertise across technologies within the Network Services domain. The role will also key in setting the vision, innovation, design and development of modern network solutions while optimizing budget, managing progress, and adhering to security and compliance safeguards/protocols.

This role has full responsibility of budget for both engineering and operations. - Interface globally and have deep experience in the development, planning, deployment, and support of Network Services solutions. - This role requires the ability to establish strategic partnerships with vendors and ability to leverage a managed services operational model as well as peer groups and internal stakeholders including Information Security, Infrastructure, and Client Computing amongst others.

The individual will need to demonstrate leadership qualities, strong communication skills, financial prudence and proactive delivery of network infrastructure and services.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Interpret business strategy and develop organizational objectives to align with network strategy.

  • Excellent communications skills with key stakeholders and BT Leadership to review, validate, and provide technical consultation for networking solutions to meet their needs.

  • Leads a team in developing network design that is agile, highly resilient, secure, and cost effective to meet our business needs.

  • Manages a distributed global network team personnel, including personnel development and technical training plans to ensure continued growth and opportunities for personnel, and maintain an organizational culture that attracts and retains top technical and managerial talent. -

  • Develop and manage relationships with network/telecom suppliers and managed service partners, including negotiation of equipment and service costs/terms. Build and maintain relationships with major technology suppliers to continuously explore opportunities to increase the business value of products and services received.

  • Approves all core network change management activities (peering, transport, hardware, etc) including the development of change and test plans.

  • Develop, manage, and contribute to short-term planning and long-term strategy to deliver infrastructure initiatives that meet business needs, including innovation where appropriate and while maintaining a flat or declining service cost.

  • Maintain operational budget accuracy and project future capital expenditure.

  • Architectural oversight and innovation across Network Services solutions

  • Develop and execute Network Services multi-year roadmaps and strategy aligned to business objectives -

    Education Minimum Requirements: -

    • BSc Degree Computer Science or related field.

    • Masters degree preferred

      Required Experience and Skills:

      • 10+ years functional and technical experience in network services.

      • Fluent in English, in both verbal and written communication.

      • 5+ years of experience managing and leading teams as well as financial oversight and business case development. -

      • Experience with modern network technologies e.g., Network Automation, Intent Based Networking, SD-WAN, SDN, Zero Trust, SASE.

      • Experience in managing vendors and managed service partners.

      • Experience with Enterprise Networking platforms, such as Cisco, PaloAlto, PulseSecure, Zscaler, F5, etc.

      • Deep technical understanding and experience with cloud networking within AWS/Azure cloud environment.

      • Identify new and emerging methodologies (e.g., SAFe Agile, DevOps) to ensure best in class Network Service Delivery.

        Preferred Experience and Skills:

        • Leadership role in an information security function and certifications or experience on specific network security technologies and capabilities. -

        • Previous experience in a pharmaceutical company or other highly regulated environments is a major plus.
