Meet The Team

The Argo Lidar team is a fast-paced, highly cross-functional team responsible for building, testing, delivering, and supporting Argo's internal lidar development. Our team has a decade of history in delivering Geiger-mode products for other industries, and we're optimizing these technologies for automotive-oriented mass production. Our design is technically novel and offers exceptional performance we believe is essential to scaling the deployment of driverless cars. As a Mechanical Engineer on the Argo Lidar team, you'll be responsible for mechanical designs and analyses that ensure we meet our aggressive performance targets over a wide range of challenging environmental conditions.

What You'll Do
Design lidar components and subsystems to withstand harsh automotive environments
Perform simulations and analysis to support design decisions
Develop and execute early validation tests on new designs to feed into the iterative design process
Work with suppliers and high-volume manufacturing partners on DFx and integration of lidar hardware
Work with a highly cross-functional team to identify and solve complex electromechanical problems

What You'll Need To Succeed
Degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics or a related field
BS in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
3+ years of industry experience
Expertise in 3D MCAD tools (SolidWorks and CATIA preferred)
Structural/thermal FEA experience in ANSYS or equivalent
Expertise in GD&T, tolerance analysis, and manufacturing specifications
Experience designing for high-volume manufacturing
Strong experience developing design requirements, conducting trade studies, developing prototype designs, executing design analysis / simulation, integrating prototypes, conducting verification/validation testing, debugging design failures, and deploying designs to mass production
Excellent communication and documentation skills

Nice To Haves
Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
Electronics experience
Opto-mechanical design experience
Plastics experience
Experience with PLM/PDM tools for BOM management and change control
