Client: Well Known Freight Moving Entity Location: Elizabeth, NJ Compensation: $95,000/year Office Policy: Fully in office 5 days/weekJob Description: The Senior Accountant position reports to the Controller and will perform accounting functions for multiple divisions under one company group. This includes involvement in financial reporting, net working capital management, and internal controls. This position will provide a great opportunity for growth and hands-on experience at a growing multi-state company. Responsibilities include: * Preparing account reconciliations and investigating discrepancies to ensure accurate reporting and general ledger maintenance * Preparing month-end close procedures * Developing and documenting business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls to support business practices for both operations and accounting * Integration Lead on transitioning/integrating to new ERP accounting system * Ensuring the integrity of accounting information by recording and verifying transactions * Ensuring accuracy and effectiveness in all our accounting tasks * Analyzing and compiling financial information and summarizing financial status * Preparing monthly, weekly, daily, and ad-hoc management reports * Assisting with audits and tax returns * Overseeing Sales/Accounts Receivable and Revenue Recognition (credit applications, billing matters, collections, revenues streams, integrating with trucking system) * Providing leadership and support for Billing Department shared service centerEducation and Experience Requirements: * Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance is required * 1-2 years of public accounting experience This candidate must also have: * Thorough knowledge of basic accounting principles and procedures * Thorough knowledge of revenue recognition accounting principles processes, and procedures * Sage Intacct accounting system experience * Knowledge and experience with intercompany transactions and consolidations * Experience transitioning and integrating from one accounting to another accounting system * Excellent Word and Excel skills (Excel proficient, including VLOOKUP and pivot tables) * Attention to detail, ability to multi-task, and meet reporting deadlines. * Ability to clearly communicate and collaborate with a range of individuals and function as a team player * Knowledge of the trucking industry is a plus * Previous experience as a Staff/Senior accountant a plus * Knowledge of CCH Workpaper Manager is a plus
